“Home Alone” Fundraiser Gives Inside Look at Film Location
The Society’s annual June fundraiser was a special one. Guests got inside the Winnetka “Home Alone” house to get a look at scene locations from the 1990 megahit now familiar to so many. Home owners Cynthia and John Abendschien shared amusing stories about their nine-months-long cohabitation with the actors, film crew and director John Hughes. Many guests in the photos below imitate young actor McCauley Culkin’s famous “scream” expression from the movie.

The Society is grateful to the Abendschiens for opening their home and to all of our sponsors: Joan and Kevin Evanich, Beth and Mark Filip, Fraerman Associates Architecture, Nan and Wally Greenough, Ed Harney and Kathy Mikells, Becky and Chris Hurley, Betsy Landes and Barry Levenstam, Laurie and Michael Petersen, Everett P. Weaver, Paul and Helen Weaver. Donations of time, expertise and goods were critical to the success of the event and for this generosity the Society thanks: Janet and Barry Bischoff at Glunz, Phototronics, Jeff Graham at FiberOptic Studios, Marc Jorgensen, the Winnetka Park District and Grand Food Center.
