The Winnetka Historical Society produces the following publications:
Gazette
Our award-winning publication the Gazette is published semi-annually, in October and May. It focuses on people, places, and events in the village’s history, local homes and institutions, and environmental subjects. It also covers annual museum exhibits, programs and workshops, and membership information. The Gazette is mailed to every household in Winnetka. Copies of the newspaper are also available free of charge, at many local businesses and organizations.
Winnetka Story documentary
Winnetka native John Newcombe, a Los Angeles-based writer and filmmaker, has created a documentary highlighting the rich stories of the history of Winnetka and the North Shore.
The DVD is available for purchase at the Historical Society headquarters at 411 Linden St., and at numerous retail locations around Winnetka. The cost of the DVD is $19.95 plus tax. Call us at (847) 446-0001 for more information.
Winnetka: Biography of a Village
Caroline Harnsberger’s Winnetka: Biography of a Village, published in 1977, is available for purchase at the Society’s museum and headquarters at 411 Linden. Leather cover, $35, Paper cover, $25.
Winnetka Architecture: Where Past is Present
Winnetka Architecture: Where Past is Present highlights specific examples of the numerous architectural styles found in Winnetka. It is a soft cover booklet published by the Historical Society in 1990. It is available for purchase at the Society’s museum and headquarters at 411 Linden for $10.

This award-winning coloring book highlights many of the more distinctive buildings in Winnetka. $3.
