Crow Island School
Join Chicago Bauhaus and Beyond, in partnership with the Winnetka Historical Society, for a tour of Crow Island School and a presentation on the school’s progressive philosophy and architectural style.
Our event features a docent-led tour of the school, plus talks in the auditorium featuring Susan Saarinen, daughter of Eero, and Laurie Petersen (co-editor of the revised AIA Guide to Chicago). They will be joined by architectural historian Susan Benjamin, who is finishing up a Historic Structures Report for the building. Recognizing its significance, the HSR will serve as a guide for Crow Island’s long term preservation. A Q&A session will be held after the talks. Ms. Saarinen will also discuss what it was like to grow up as Eero’s daughter, and insights into his genius.
