Gary Sheahan's painting of the Augusta colliding with the Lady Elgin in 1860 off the shores of Winnetka. Sheahan painted this in 1950 using oil on canvas. Sheahan was born in Winnetka in 1984. He became a renowned artist and journalist for the Chicago Tribune, who sent Sheahan abroad to sketch and report on scenes from Europe during World War II.
