Winnetkan, Marion Mahony Griffin; A Gifted Architect in a Man’s World
Presentation by Jan Pavlovic

December 10th – 7:00pm

Marion Mahony Griffin, a resident of Winnetka for many years, was the first licensed female architect in history. Defying the accepted role of women in the early 20th century, Mahony-Griffin was a lead designer for Frank Lloyd Wright and an equal partner with her husband, Walter Burley Griffin. Learn more about her and the delicate balance she maintained as a professional architect in an era where there were very few opportunities for women in that field.
